Mesa History

Mesa was settled in March 1877 by a group of settlers led by Daniel Webster Jones. Originally, the Lehi residents lived in united order, sharing supplies and the food they raised. The first buildings were brush sheds; later Fort Utah was built with adobe bricks. On July 17th 1878, section 22 (now called The Town Center) was registered in Florence. In 1883, the 300 residents incorporated Mesa City and elected its first mayor.
